Hosts Birthday Champagne and Interference Workshop

Douglas, Isle of Man, 7th March 2018 – The Satellite Interference Reduction Group (IRG) has announced that it will celebrate its 20th anniversary at Satellite 2018 with a half-day workshop and a champagne reception.

Hosted by SES, the half-day workshop will take place on the 15th March at the Walter E. Washington Convention Centre in room 144B from 14:00pm onward. It will feature sessions from industry experts, and showcase the technology, processes and tools available and those needed in the future for continued interference mitigation. Please register for the workshop here.

To further celebrate its 20th anniversary, the Satellite Interference Reduction Group will be co-hosting a champagne reception at the Kratos booth (#1700) on Wednesday 14th March at 16:30.  The reception will also feature a live podcast on the topic of Satellite Interference in a New Space World. With hundreds of HTS and thousands of LEO & MEO constellations in place or planned, the potential for increased interference grows.  This podcast will explore how the satellite industry can adapt, and what new technology, regulations and approaches need to be developed to address the challenge. Panellists will be IRG’s Executive Director, Martin Coleman, Bob Potter, Vice President, Signals and Ground System Technology, Kratos, and Inmarsat’s Vice President of Product Development and Strategy, Mark Steel, who is also a Director of IRG. All IRG members, friends and press are welcome to join us for champagne and/or watch the podcast live.

Martin Coleman, Executive Director, IRG will also be speaking on a panel at Satellite 2018 on the 15th March from 11:15am until 12:15pm. The session will explore the use of AI and machine learning to help solve interference and manage future networks.

“Satellite 2018 is an important show for the industry and I am really looking forward to discussing how we can apply new technologies to solve interference,” commented Martin Coleman, Executive Director, IRG. “We are especially looking forward to our 20th anniversary celebrations. As an organisation, we are immensely proud of our achievements over the last twenty years and hope to welcome many familiar faces for a glass of bubbly to celebrate!”
